Course Maintenance

28th September 2020

Our course remains in excellent condition thanks to the excellent work of our  greenstaff.   Our plea to all members today is to take action to ensure this is not spoiled unnecessarily.   This covers:-

Bunkers – Rakes are not available but can all golfers please make some effort to smooth foot-prints and other damage caused in the bunkers.  It looks terrible to see clear footprints in the sand.

Broken Tees – Please pick up all tees (broken or otherwise) after playing from teeing area. Recently there was as many as 20 broken / discarded tees on the 16th tee.   These look very unsightly and also cause the green staff issues as these tees can damage the grass cutting equipment.

Pitchmarks on greens – Fortunately the greens remain firm and pitchmarks are not an issue but when the wetter colder weather sets in they will become more evident and members are asked to take time to repair any marks made by balls on greens.

Slow Play – Unfortunately, a few instances of slow play have been reported to the office and/or the Captain.  This is unusual and regrettable.  The tee booking system does allow us to potentially identify culprits but at this stage we will simply remind all members of the requirement to play at a reasonable pace and if the group behind, of whatever size is being held up and there is a gap in front, the group behind should be invited to play through sooner rather than later.  It is easy at times to blame visitors for any issue but looking at the tee sheets on the days in question it is clear visitors are not necessarily to blame.
